PPWR
PPWR – How we work with sustainable and future-ready packaging
The EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), Regulation (EU) 2025/40, establishes common rules for packaging within the EU. Its aims include reducing packaging waste, increasing recycling and setting clearer requirements for packaging materials and design.
How NiceBoxes works with PPWR
NiceBoxes supplies packaging for, among other things, chocolate, confectionery, bakeries, patisseries and retail. Our range includes cardboard boxes, chocolate boxes, inserts, paper bags and various types of plastic packaging.
We work together with our suppliers within the EU to ensure that the packaging we sell complies with the PPWR requirements applicable to each product at the relevant time.
· We request documentation and information from our suppliers regarding packaging materials and composition.
· We ensure that our suppliers work in accordance with the applicable PPWR requirements.
· We continuously follow new requirements for recyclability, material content and labelling introduced under the PPWR.
· We take PPWR into account when developing new packaging and aim to use materials and designs that facilitate recycling.
· We work to reduce unnecessary material use without compromising the packaging’s function or its ability to protect the product.
Food packaging
A large proportion of our packaging is used for chocolate, pralines, baked goods and other foods. For products to which specific PPWR requirements for food packaging apply, we request relevant documentation from our suppliers.
This includes, among other things, the restrictions on PFAS and certain other substances that apply under the PPWR.
Documentation
NiceBoxes works with established manufacturers and suppliers within the EU. For relevant products, we request and document the information needed to trace the product’s materials and its compliance with applicable requirements.
The PPWR is being implemented in stages, and several requirements will apply in the coming years. We therefore continuously update our product range, supplier requirements and documentation as new requirements become applicable.
Our objective
Our objective is to offer functional and attractive packaging that is also adapted to the transition towards more resource-efficient and recyclable packaging within the EU.
